Officer Jason Brown arrested UFC star Jon Jones on four separate counts in the early hours of Thursday morning. Brown found Jones apparently intoxicated and in possession of a handgun.

The arrest took place at around 1 am when the Albuquerque police department responded to a gunshot on 3rd Street and Central Avenue. Officer Brown then found Jones sitting in a black Jeep with the engine running. The professional MMA fighter was accompanied only by an almost empty bottle of mezcal, a handgun, and a “green leafy substance on his shirt and pants, consistent with marijuana.”

After conducting sobriety tests, Jones appeared to be at twice or above the legal limit. He was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI, negligent use of a firearm, possession of open an open container, and no proof of insurance in his vehicle.

Footage of the incident showed Jones repeatedly telling officers “I have anxiety,” whilst being cuffed. The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of DWI, and charges relating to the open container of alcohol and possession of a firearm were dropped. Under the terms of his plea agreement, he will serve 96 hours straight in a Community Custody Programme. He will also have to conduct 48 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine.

Jones will remain on supervised probation for the next year with an ankle bracelet to track his movements. In a statement to the press, he admitted to having an “unhealthy relationship with alcohol.”
