Manchester United have not secured a significant cup victory since Jose Mourinho assembled the successful team for the 2017 Europa League. Presently, their current coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, expressed that the squad is “anxious to claim a trophy.”

The squad will clash against Everton in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, a team whose most recent major triumph traces back to the 1994-95 FA Cup, and who have not competed in a significant semi-final since 2016.

“We aim to progress and there is an anticipation for us to secure trophies,” stated Solskjaer to the press. “To surpass last year’s performance is to reach the final – and once we reach it, the only thing that matters is to hoist the trophy.”

Manchester and Everton are gearing up for their forthcoming match with equal points, both holding the third and fourth spots in the Cup respectively.

“It’s immensely vital that we strive to claim silverware. We have been unsuccessful in the past two or three years now and this is crucial,” reiterated Solskjaer.

The former Man United player from Norway amassed nine major titles during his tenure with the team. Since assuming the role of manager, he has endured a series of defeats in three semi-finals over the last couple of years.
