With the possibility of securing a visa, Alex Morgan is set to embark on a short-term agreement with the English football club Tottenham Hotspur. Orlando Pride has facilitated Morgan’s loan move to Spurs until the conclusion of the current year.

In order to maximize her playing time ahead of potential selection for next year’s US women’s soccer team participating in the Tokyo Olympics, Morgan decided to make the switch. The recipient of the World Cup silver ball in 2019 welcomed her daughter, Charlie, on 7 May and resumed her professional soccer career in August. However, her return was brief as Morgan had to leave the field following a collision.

Orlando is slated to participate in the NWSL Fall Series, but this mini-tournament will provide them with only four competitive matches.

The 31-year-old player boasts significant experience in European competitions. She clinched a gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012 by scoring the decisive goal against the Canadian team in the semi-finals. Moreover, in 2017, Morgan inked a contract with Lyon, where she lifted the French Cup and secured a Champion’s League medal during her stint with the team.

Carli Lloyd, Morgan’s compatriot and co-captain of the US national team, also has a background in English football leagues, having joined Manchester City around the same period when Morgan moved to France.
