Win By Hurricanes Extend Undefeated Run to 9 Matches Defeating Blackhawks

The Carolina Hurricanes have competed in a total of 9 games in the ongoing NHL season of 2021-2022. Their most recent match, held on Wednesday night in Chicago against the Blackhawks, culminated in a close 4-3 victory for the Hurricanes. Securing this win wasn’t a walk in the park – they faced significant challenges throughout the game. Despite falling behind 1-0, the Hurricanes rallied back with a goal from Derek Stepan to level the score. The second period saw the Blackhawks scoring two goals, one by Patrick Kane and another by Alex DeBrincat, his second of the game, before Seth Jarvis managed to narrow the gap with a goal for the Hurricanes. As they entered the third period trailing by a goal, their situation seemed bleak. However, their fortunes quickly turned around with Jesper Fast scoring just 17 seconds into the final period.

Shortly after, in a span of three minutes, they seized the lead as Martin Necas scored, cementing the scoreline at 4-3. The current record for the most consecutive victories at the start of a season stands at 15, held by the 1984-1985 Edmonton Oilers, consequently, the Hurricanes have a considerable distance to catch up. In another eventful match, the Columbus Blue Jackets triumphed over the Colorado Avalanche in overtime with a 5-4 victory. Despite the Avalanche holding a 2-0 lead in the second period, the Blue Jackets managed to turn the game around by scoring four consecutive goals before the Avalanche rallied with two late goals to force overtime. Jake Bean of the Blue Jackets scored the winning goal just 72 seconds into the extra period, concluding a thrilling encounter that will be remembered as one of the standout games of the regular season in the league this year.
