Have you seen how crazy this college football season has been? On Saturday, the regular season came to a close throughout the country, with many clubs facing off against their bitter rivals. We’ll start with one of the most important, as #2 Ohio State faced #5 Michigan in a battle to see who would win the division and, presumably, go to the CFP. Following a 42-27 triumph on a chilly, snowy day, that team seems to be the Wolverines. For the visitors, Hassan Haskins was the star, running for 169 yards and five touchdowns on 29 touches. Two of those touchdowns came in the critical third quarter when he gave Michigan a lead they would never relinquish, setting up a Big Ten clash with Iowa the following week.

The other huge rivalry match-up that pitted two ranked teams with CFP aspirations of their own against one another was #10 Oklahoma versus #7 Oklahoma State. For the first time in six years, the Cowboys were able to defeat the Sooners, on the back of Spencer Sanders’ 300 yards+ of all-purpose offense, and they also have denied the Sooners a seventh consecutive Big 12 title in the process. Oh, and on top of that, they still remain alive in the hunt for one of those four coveted spots in the College Football Playoff. Even if they need some help, you can’t completely rule them out at this stage. The other massive game of the day was the Alabama Crimson Tide, coming in at #3, narrowly escaping the clutches of rivals Auburn on the road by winning in four overtimes by a score of 24-22. The Tide failed to score a single point until 8:44 to go in the fourth, but they mounted a late comeback as QB Bryce Young found Ja’Corey Brooks from 28 yards out with just 24 seconds to go to send it to OT. Once there, the Tide held its nerve and as a result, they are 11-1 and will prepare to face Georgia in the SEC Championship next week with tons of pressure on them to play well. Three other ranked teams fell on the day, as #14 Wisconsin lost its right to the Big 12 title game after a 23-13 loss to Minnesota, #15 Texas A&M was beaten 27-24 by LSU, and previously undefeated Texas-San Antonio (#22 in the nation) were pummeled 45-23 by North Texas. That leaves #1 Georgia and Cincinnati as the only unbeaten in college football.
