TNF: The Cowboys Get Much-Needed Victory Over Fading Saints

It’s easy to suggest that a game is a “must-win” for a club like the Dallas Cowboys, who face the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football this week. It’s ludicrous to argue that since, quite honestly, they’re comfortably ahead of their division and very certain to make the playoffs.

However, it is still about optics, and they needed some momentum to build having lost three of their last four outings. Facing the Saints was the perfect time to turn all of that around, as they utilized the lack of a star QB under center to wreak havoc defensively. The Cowboys picked off Taysom Hill four times, one of those ending up being a pick-six by Carlos Watkins, as they strolled toward a 27-17 win on the road. Tony Pollard also made a big contribution to the effort, rushing for a 58-yard touchdown run while Dak Prescott was solid under center with 238 yards and a TD. The aforementioned Hill racked up big numbers, with over 350 yards of total offense, but his inability to keep possession of the ball for his team was costly and it saw him and the Saints fall for the fifth straight contest.
