Following the accusation made by Sauce Gardner, the NFL has made a decision after reviewing the incident involving New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones.
A video shared by Gardner on Monday depicted the alleged incident, wherein Gardner pushes Jones after a scramble following a quarterback sneak in Sunday’s game, claiming that Jones struck him in the groin area.
Reports from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero indicate that Mac Jones is unlikely to face suspension as a result of the recent allegations brought forward by New York Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. However, there is a possibility of a fine being enforced.
Despite several video clips circulating on social media, none provide conclusive evidence of any apparent misconduct from Jones.
During an appearance on “Jones & Mego” this week, the third-year quarterback clarified that the incident was unintentional. This is not the first instance where Jones has been accused of unsportsmanlike conduct. Previously, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple accused Jones of “dirty play” after he dived at his feet during an interception. Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay also took to social media, labeling Jones as “Dirty af!!”
Last year, the NFL fined Jones for the low hit on Apple and a separate unnecessary roughness penalty in the same game.
