Jaguars Fire Head Coach Urban Meyer After Less Than A Year

In Jacksonville, the Urban Meyer project has come to an end. After weeks and months of rumors that the head coach’s time would be cut short, Jaguars owner Shad Khan pulled the trigger on possibly the team’s biggest blunder in hiring the former college football coaching superstar.

Meyer had not led the team to great results on the field, but then again most didn’t expect him to work wonders early on. The team’s record was 2-11, but it was his behavior off the field that has been more worrying and was has ultimately led to his dismissal from the organization. It’s said that Meyer has consistently spoken down to his players and staff, it was alleged that he kicked a player during warm-ups in the preseason, and he was, most infamously, videoed receiving a ‘dance’ from a woman at his own restaurant that didn’t happen to be his wife. He perhaps could have survived 2-11, but the rest, and there is likely to be even more come out in the near future, was just too much for him to stick around. Lots of head-scratching decisions were made, but this one wasn’t one and will have certain positive effects immediately.
