In other arenas, all three Team USA basketball squads secured victories. The women’s team faced tough competition from Nigeria but emerged victorious with a final score of 81-72, led by A’ja Wilson’s impressive performance of 19 points and 13 rebounds. The men’s team, bouncing back from an initial loss to France, dominated Iran with a resounding win of 120-66, featuring Damian Lillard’s standout performance of 21 points. Additionally, the women’s 3-on-3 basketball team triumphed over France with a close score of 18-16, securing a spot in the final round.

Swimming sensation Katie Ledecky redeemed herself by capturing the gold medal in the 1500m freestyle event after a surprising fifth-place finish in the 200m. In water polo, the American women’s team faced a setback, experiencing a rare defeat against Hungary in group play with a tight score of 10-9. Despite this loss, their chances of advancing to the knockout stage remain strong.
