Among the numerous matches between these two rivals, the Giants emerged victorious in three consecutive games, extending it to four and now five with an exciting 2-1 win on Tuesday night. Billy McKinney scored the first and only run for the Dodgers with a single in the fifth inning, but Buster Posey leveled the score at one-all in the sixth with an RBI single of his own.

In the following innings, he would claim the winning run as Cody Bellinger made a wild throw across the diamond, resulting in an error that allowed Posey to reach the plate. This gave James McGee the lead and the chance to seal the game, which he successfully accomplished, securing the victory for the 21st time this season. Division rivals San Diego also secured a significant win at their home ground against the Oakland A’s, defeating them 7-4 primarily through powerful hitting. Trailing 3-0 early on, Fernando Tatis, Jr. smashed a two-run home run to put San Diego on the board. Jake Cronenworth then equalized in the fifth inning with an RBI single before Manny Machado’s three-run homer completely turned the game around to 7-3. Despite a late run by the A’s, they could only manage to score once and eventually fell 7-4.
