When the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the San Francisco Giants on Monday night, the Giants were under a slight amount of pressure. Having lost two consecutive games and holding just a one-game lead in the NL West, the stakes were high. While the victory wasn’t essential, it was certainly a desirable way to assert dominance. In the top of the first, Buster Posey smashed a two-run homer followed by a solo shot from Wilmer Flores. Despite solo homers by Max Muncy and Justin Turner in the bottom half of the inning for the Dodgers, those were the only runs conceded by the Giants’ pitching lineup. They maintained their lead throughout the game, ending with a 7-2 advantage after scoring four additional runs in the seventh inning. This widened their divisional lead to two games over the Dodgers, providing them with a comfortable margin.
