Former NBA player JJ Hickson arrested on an armed robbery charge

Former NBA player JJ Hickson was arrested on Friday on a charge of armed robbery and is being held in the Coweta County Jail, Georgia without a bail. He is currently waiting for a trail to take place. Jimmy Yarbrough, spokesperson, Coweta Sheriff Department said that the 29-year-old Hickson was arrested in connection to a home invasion on Friday night in Senoia, Georgia where many things were stolen, and a person was attacked.

There was a total of two suspects involved in committing the crime, but for now, only Hickson is being charged.

Captain John Kennedy explained how the entire incident took place and said, “The victim was beaten up pretty good, and they took some personal items from the residence. And then through the help of a canvass, we were able to identify a suspect and a suspect vehicle. We were able to identify a suspect from that.”

Hickson started playing in his high school basketball team in Marietta before going on to play at NC State. The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted him with the 19th pick in the NBA draft of 2008. He has played three seasons for the Cavaliers and has also spent time with Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets during his eight NBA seasons.

His best season is known with the Trail Blazers in 2012-2013 where he averaged a double of 12.7 points and 10.4 rebounds. He averaged 9.5 points, and 6.8 rebounds in 534 career NBA games and last appeared in a game in 2015-16 season.

Hickson had last played professional basketball with the Champville team in the Lebanese Basketball League last season. In his entire basketball career, Hickson has made over $26 million, and with this arrest, he must have fallen on hard times.
