The competition for the NL West championship is ongoing. Yet, the San Francisco Giants took advantage of the opportunity and demonstrated on Wednesday night that they would not be overshadowed by the reigning World Series champions, Los Angeles. The Dodgers entered the game trailing by one in the division and aimed to level the playing field with a victory at home. However, they ended up falling two games behind as the Giants refused to surrender. Trailing 2-1 since the fourth inning, the Giants staged a comeback in the top of the ninth inning to surprise closer Kenley Jansen.

Wilmer Flores was the hero of the game, delivering a two-run home run to give his team a 3-2 lead. Curt Casali then contributed by scoring a run with a walk, adding some insurance to their lead. They managed to maintain the 4-2 advantage until the end when Tyler Rogers closed out the game and secured the victory. With a record of 60-35, the Giants are now 25 games above .500, a remarkable achievement considering the lack of expectations placed on them. The Dodgers, at 59-38, despite the series potentially being counted as a loss, are still expected to have a significant impact on both the divisional race and the World Series.
