Colin Morikawa’s performance is renowned for being firm, composed, and trustworthy. During the latest Open Championship at Royal St. George’s, the American exemplified all of these characteristics as he progressed towards triumph. Commencing the final round trailing Louis Oosthuizen by a single stroke, he remained composed, recording a brilliant -4 66 to secure a two-shot victory over Jordan Spieth, and an additional two shots over both Jon Rahm and the aforementioned Oosthuizen. Let’s not overlook the fact that Morikawa triumphed in his maiden Open Championship appearance.

Traditionally, this tournament is deemed the most challenging among the four majors due to its ‘links’ style, which differs significantly from what players are accustomed to. Morikawa tackled this challenge skillfully and impressively to capture his second major victory. He had previously claimed the PGA Championship title in his debut appearance back in 2020. Therefore, this 24-year-old has now secured two major titles, and there is undoubtedly more to come from him, provided that the media’s expectations do not burden him excessively.
