In college football, history has been made. Last but not least, the Cincinnati Bearcats have climbed into the top four slots in the College Football Playoff, making them the first ‘group of five institutions to crash the major five conferences’ party. Georgia is still atop the rankings, far ahead of everyone else, although Ohio State has jumped Alabama to second place.

The Crimson Tide is third while Cincy, still unbeaten like Georgia, is now fourth following Oregon’s slip up. Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma complete the current top-ten teams, but most few as if only the first eight have a shot at making it in a couple of weeks’ time when the official four are chosen. This week’s biggest game will pit the #2 Buckeyes against the #5 Wolverines, and most feel that’s a de facto playoff game. We’ll have to wait and see if Cincy hangs on, but at least this does give hope for quality teams that aren’t in your typically strong conferences.
